Shortly after shooting his first feature in 2009, Zach Salsman moved from a small New England town to Los Angeles to further his career in the film industry. In 2015, Zach’s gritty handheld camera work caught the eye of director Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, Michael) who brought him aboard his feature Southpaw starring Jake Gyllenhaal. Over the next decade, Zach would go on to shoot a wide range of narrative, commercial and documentary projects before focusing primarily on scripted episodic television. From 2017 to 2020, he shot six seasons of television (55 episodes) across five different series for streamers like Netflix, Hulu, and Paramount+. Working with a variety of directors on vastly different genres has made Zach an adaptable collaborator who can work efficiently while still creating artful images that have something to say.

Noteworthy project achievements in television include the 2018 SXSW Film Festival premiere of the Paramount+ series My Dead Ex, and an Emmy win for Outstanding Young Adult Series in 2021 for the Netflix series Trinkets. More recently, Zach traveled to South Korea to shoot two seasons of XO, Kitty, which held the No. 1 spot on Netflix with 13 million views in its first four days, and won the 2026 GLADD Media Award for Outstanding Kids and Family Programming.

Outside of his work in episodic television, Zach paired back up with Antoine Fuqua to shoot select interviews for the documentary Legacy: The True Story of The LA Lakers as well as the upcoming Untitled Death Row Records Documentary, featuring Snoop Dogg. Zach is a passionate storyteller who loves every aspect of the filmmaking process. He is continually praised for his ability to not only connect with and understand a director’s vision, but to translate that vision into a cinematic language that enhances the story as a whole. He is a member of IATSE International Cinematographers Guild Local 600 and is currently based in Los Angeles, where he resides with his family.
